Q: Does anybody know how to setup bluetooth on the BMW 1 Series?
My friend just bought a BMW 1 Series and on the steering wheel it has buttons. One is a phone symbol and the other is of someone speaking. We tried pressing the buttons but we’re having problems setting up the bluetooth. Does anyone know how this is done?

A: The BMW 1 Series has to have the premium package or BMW assist for the bluetooth to work. You will also need a BMW compatible phone. If you have both you will first need to get your phone ready to pair to the car. Then go to the menu button near the radio controls, select BMW assist and pair the phone.

You can also bring it by any BMW dealer and we will do it for you.

Q: I would love to purchase the BMW 1 series but I want to know my options. What are the alternatives to this car
I have been trying to research for alternatives but nothing really popped up. The gas thing is also another issue and thats why I am having second thoughts with the BMW 1 series.

A: There aren’t many rear wheel drive cars in that price range. BMW has a unique combination of luxury and performance.

Closest I can think of would be an RX-8. The RX-8 has fantastic handling along with a usable rear seat. If you are worried about gas, you don’t want an RX-8. EPA for the RX-8 is 16/22.

EPA for the 128i is 18/28. Much better.

I wouldn’t consider the Mustang (no handling) or the Evo MR (no comfort) as direct alternatives. One magazine reviewer said “The Evo is just like a 135i with less sound-deadening material and its suspension completely welded together.”

Have you looked at Mini? EPA for a Clubman S is 26/34!

Mini is not directly comparable to a 128i. I’ve driven both and they just aren’t the same. BUT look at the gas mileage.

If you are going to start looking at front wheel drive cars, the Mini should be at the top of your list. Also take a look at the Audi A3.

Q: Why BMW 1 Series is the only one using rear wheel drive among the whole BMW lines ?
I thought rear wheel drive cars are only for racing and performance car ? But why, just the BMW 1 Series is using RWD, but the other series didn’t use ? All series like 3,5,6,7 are much more better and need more performance than 1 Series, right ? But why 1 Series is the one only using it, since it is the cheapest among them ? I am so confused…By the way, may i know, Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series which one is cheaper ?

A: All BMW are RWD rear wheel drive except the X which is all wheel drive. What the articale is refer to is the BMW1 is the only RWD in its “class.” Meaning compared to other small cars such as the Golf, AUDI A3, Mazda 3, etc. Not other BMWs. It is the only small car with a inline mounted engine. The Golf etc are FWD front Wheel Drive with transverse mounted engines.

A: I work at a BMW dealership and we don’t even have the prices for them yet. The 138 is supposed to start out in the low 30’s though. But we don’t even have that in writing yet, we are still guessing.

Q: How much will a BMW 1 series coupe cost upon arrival to the US?
In spring BMW is releasing the 1 series in the USA, but does anyone know how much they will most likely cost?

A: 2008 BMW 128i : $27,000 base price
2008 BMW 135i : $32,000 base price

A: the 128 will run at around 27k and the 135m sport will be at around 30k.

Q: how much is the 2008 bmw 1 series coupe?
the 2008 bmw 1 series coupe… the orange on in most of the pictures shown… how much is it?

A: The 128i should be about: $29,375( which is including delivery) and the 135i should $35,675(it has 300HP, which is great for about 36K). Hope this helped.

I am just about to purchase the BMW 1 Series Coupe, 118d 2DR 2.0 SPORT.

My friends say the 1 series (the normal one) is “beautiful” but this one is ugly as hell?

What do you guys think. I’m not a family man or anything, but my parents would drive it if they wanted.

A: im not a fan of BMW generally but i’d say the standard one series is the ugly one and the coupe is pretty smart. Oh and while im on the X6 is the most ridiculous looking thing i have ever seen

Q: What will the price be for the base model 2008 BMW 1 Series Coupe?
I see a 1 series coupe will be coming to the U.S. in spring of ‘08 and it will come in a 230 hp and 300 hp version. Any ideas on the sticker price for the 230 hp version or both?

A: According to a most recent press release from BMW–

128i will cost $29,980- 230 HP
135i will cost $35,760- 300 HP

The 135i will be released first in April around the time of NY International Auto Show and the 128i will be released 3 weeks later for commercial purposes. Rumors have been flying around that Hertz car rental wants a boat load of 128i and a handful of 135i (at a really cheap price- $24,000 for the 128i, unspecified amount for the 135i) for some special lots to upgrade their image.

I personally believe this will be the grass roots BMW that made BMW famous in the first place- light weight, powerful, simple and simply the best BMW to come around in a long time.

Q: Does your bmw 1 series “tramline”, and what have you done about it?
I have a 2005 bmw 1 series which seems to swerve either left or right and I have been told it is due to “tramlining” and I have to put up with it. I find this hard to believe as sometimes it can be quite dangerous. Does anyone have any advice on this. Thank you.

PLEASE IGNORE THE OTHER ANSWERS, THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE TALKING ABOUT….

I have three 3 Series and they all Tramline, what tramlining is and why it occurs is as follows:

Tramlining is the tendency of a vehicle’s wheels to follow the contours in the surface upon which it runs (the origins of the phrase dates back decades but as you know, Trams are not involved in your case).

Over time, large and heavy lorries leave ruts in the road that you can hardly see, your tyres fit in these but as you get close to the edge of the rut it deflects the tyre, causing a slight swerve.

The wider your wheels the more prone they are to tramlining, which is why it effects BMWs and other “performance” cars more than lesser cars.

Ensuring your tyres are in good condition and inflated to the correct pressure will help but will not solve the problem.

Avoiding the lanes used by heavy lorries will help.

It is something that you can learn to live with once you know what to do.

When will the BMW 1 series coupe be available for order in L.A?? Also do they plan on an M1 coupe in the states?

A: No talk of an M1 yet. The 1 series will be available in the States spring of ‘08. Most likely around March or April. But as of right now BMW has not officially said anything on price or when they will be able to be ordered.

Q: When will the BMW 1 series come out in the U.S? and will there be a model with 4 doors?
I heard tht the bmw 1 series will only have 2 doors on all of its models. Is tht true?

A: No four door. If you want the four door, go for the three.

Q: Is this antifreeze OK for a BMW 1 series 2007 118i?

A: Antifreeze is pretty simple really. Doesn’t matter which you use, its just ethylene glycol or somit like that. If you haven’t done it already though…!!!

Q: What car to get, BMW 1 series hatchback or Astra VXR?
Im still in two minds as to what one to purchase for my birthday.

I like both obviously, but have so much diffucilties in making my mind up in which one to choose.

I just feel the Astra looks better but the BMW demands more respect lol.

Help please guys, as usual i will give points to the best answer.

A: VXR deffo

The VXR is good kit and people know that they’re a bit mental. There’s no better Astra model than the VXR but you’d always feel like a muppet pulling up next to an M3 in a 1 series.

VXR is better looking, faster, more powerful, more fun to drive and you won’t see 20 on every street in the UK. The BM is nicer interior and rear wheel drive but I didn’t think much of it to drive and they are everywhere.

Admittedly BMW gets more respect that Vauxhall but VXR gets more respect than 1 series in my book

Q: i have a bmw 1 series 3dr hatchback and i am looking for a decent 6000 watt or more subwoofer?
the boot is preety small and i mainly just wanna stick a big subwoofer system in there can you reccomend any amplifiers subwoofer made for my bmw 1 series 3dr, i need the most powerfull i can get.
okay so then how can i make sure nothign breaks

A: what a heap of crap the other guy speaks,, i had a pioneer 5000w sub and amp in my fiesta and i didnt smash any windows,, i just damaged my hearing,, lol

you should check out the pioneer subs and amps especially the slim-line subs and boxes for small boots,,
